How do advisers fit into a system of family governance? In his book, Creating Effective Boards for Family Enterprises, John Ward advocates that family businesses have boards of directors. He further suggests that these boards contain strong nonfamily members. I have previously stated my belief that all families are in business-the business of wealth preservation. It will not surprise you that I, therefore, believe that all families should have boards of directors
