For the most part, constitutions are not legal documents, though like such agreements, they are written, agreed to, and signed. They are often referred to as moral agreements, in that family members voluntarily agree to them because they care about each other. They do not substitute for or contradict legal agreements in place. Rather, they explain the existing legal agreements so that they are clearly understood snd elaborate upon them in areas that are less clear or not mentioned.
