Page 69.Thoreau sought too much. It exhausted him. I have the habit of attention to such access that my senses get no rest, but suffer from a constant strain. Determined not to get stuck in a visual, right, he altered his perception and perspective. Sometimes only the slightest shift, a hairs, breath aside from our habitual path or routine reveals New World.Thoreau’s vision is a function of character. He considered the perception of beauty a moral test. Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder, it is in his heart. We can’t improve our vision without improving ourselves. The dynamic works both ways. Not only does who we are determined what we see but what we see determines who we are.
