All our lives are important and each is a vital link in the vast web of life. When we do not find and fulfill our part, there is a hole, a torn place in the pattern. Too many holes and tears will hurt the pattern deeply. The qualities needed to achieve that purpose is awareness, humility, patients, perseverance, trust, hope, and love. Those great strengths are cultivated and lived out in relationship with our true self first, then with others. This is the process of self-understanding.
