We've developed our own understanding of what metrics are important for software startups. We look at not just their annually recurring revenue (ARR) and growth rates. We look at their customer acquisition costs. We have various metrics of capital efficiency. We talk to customers on our own. We try to make sure that the product actually is loved and is being referred by customers to others. We're always trying to look for signals that the com-pany's taking off.
