Another step you can take with your advisers is to create an actual communication plan. Giving well is hard. Talking about your gifts with your children or grandchildren may be even harder. One way to reduce the difficulty is to craft a communication plan to share the news about the gift at the right time, in the right way, with the proper recipients. A good plan covers the content, the tone, and the process of communication. The communication plan doesn't need to be in place before the gift is finalized. But knowing that you have a resource to help you create that plan may help defuse any misgivings you have even before they arise.
