Zaidy doesn’t live looking around at other people or doing what other people do or accept. Zaidy lives deliberately, not giving in to society or what they consider “valuable” or “praiseworthy”. For example, Zaidy will study art. He won’t necessarily consider the most popular artist as valuable, he will find the value in art that he studies, regardless of the fame of it’s artist. This goes with everything. His business mantra, investments, use of time or money etc. His collections, antiques and sefarim, all reflect this unique trademark characteristic of noticing intrinsic value.

In the book
I have tried, all my life, to keep an inner scorecard. I live deliberately — I do not measure things by what the crowd considers valuable or praiseworthy, but by the worth I find in them myself, whether it is a piece of art, an antique, or how I spend my money and my time. I will tell you honestly how I see myself, because that honesty is the whole point of this chapter: I do not believe I am smarter than other people. — The Relationship With Yourself (Traits/Reflection)
But hold this in balance: a healthy society needs a measure of conformity, yet it must never demand it at the expense of the individuals who carry unique gifts. Belong fully — and still live deliberately, by your own honest scorecard, rather than simply doing what everyone around you does. And let me say plainly where I have tried to stand in all of this. — Friends, Community & Society (Relationships/Community/Society)
Notice that my business decisions tended to turn out better than my personal ones — and the reason is instructive: in business I optimized for the result, but in the moral and personal arena I optimized for doing right regardless of the result, and there is a comfort in that which no outcome can give you. Live deliberately, the way I've tried to: don't accept what the crowd calls valuable, but find the intrinsic value in a thing yourself — in art, in an investment, in a person, in how you spend your time. If you build your own companies, I will back you the way I backed everyone else worth backing — as an angel, not an owner, because I want you to be entrepreneurs with your own passion and your own vision. — Leadership & Business (Leadership/Business)
