In the book
When you must raise a hot or divisive subject, present it not as two flat sides of a coin but as a prism with many faces — people are far more willing to rethink when they see a topic's full complexity. To get any message through a person's filters at all, give it something to hold onto — a small reward, a touch of novelty, and above all a human angle, people plus genuine feeling. Notice, too, that people take in the world through different channels — some are visual ("I see what you mean"), some auditory ("I hear you"), some physical ("it feels right") — and you connect faster when you speak in their channel. — Communication & Conflict (Communication/Conflict)
