like a sailboat needs win in order to move

Page 7 like a sailboat needs win in order to move. The brain body needs an outside force to urgent to grow, adapt, and not die. When there's too much wind, the boat can go dangerously fast, lose its balance and sink , when a brain body encounters too much stress, it begins to respond negatively. But when it does not have enough stress, it's plateau and begins to coast. Emotionally this plateau may feel like boredom or distress, physically it can look like a stagnation of growth

In the book

The aim, with real deliberate practice, is not merely to reach your potential but to build it — to make possible what was not possible before. Your brain and body need that outside pressure the way a sailboat needs wind; with too little, you sit dead in the water. Sometimes the move is to reinvent yourself wholesale, the way the best performers refuse to coast on what already works. — Expanding Your Range (Growth/Change/Education/Learning/Habit)
