Another family had a unique dilemma. A highly qualified in-law was proposed for the board, but the family felt this person was not connected enough to the family: he didn't come to family reunions and didn't know what the family wanted. Both of these were expectations for board membership; it was not just a business decision. He was not selected. Instead, he was told that before he could serve, he would have to interact more with the family
