The connection with generic strategies. The basis for positioning, varieties, needs, and access, carry the understanding of those generic strategies to a greater level of specificity. It is intuitive for most managers to conceive of their business. In terms of the customers meet they are meeting. But a critical element of needs based positioning is not at all intuitive and often overwhelmed.
