To perceive nature accurately, a person must understand nature
To perceive nature accurately, a person must understand nature. That means that this person must seek and love truth more than anything else. They have to love truth more than themselves and more than their loved ones or more than humanity. Because if there's anything more valuable than truth to a person then at some point in time they will choose that other value rather than truth and once they do that they're not able to perceive nature or themselves accurately. This is a very similar concept to what is written by r yisroel salanter when he speaks about someone who is in public service and informs him that he must always strive to search his motivations so that he comes down to the real truth of what is motivating here and before he takes any action.
