Scientific studies have shown that the brain stores a lot of information that we draw upon even though we do not actually receive the stimuli for it. When the individual is viewing the visual stimuli has a conflict that does not enable him to understand what he is seeing, he will develop a rationale for why he saw that image even though the image was not there.
