The need to approach others positively and with enthusiasm…
page 34 The need to approach others positively and with enthusiasm for difference is absolutely critical to any change. People in the center are not going to be the big change makers. You've got to put yourself at the margins and be willing to risk in order to make change. More importantly, you have got to approach differences with this notion that there is good in the other. If we can't figure out how to do that, and if there isn't the crack in the middle where there's some people on both sides who absolutely refuse to see the other is evil, this is going to continue.

In the book
Do not contend with people out of mere strife, and when a matter is serious, take your counsel from those with mature judgment rather than the loudest voice in the room. Never let yourself believe the person across from you is evil — believe instead that there is good in them you have not yet found. And never be too proud to say the three hardest and most healing words in any language: I was wrong. — Communication & Conflict (Communication/Conflict)
