These five stages are pre-contemplation which is the stage where you have not yet identified a need to change but continue in the same way. The second stage is contemplation where you're considering the pros and cons of making a change. The third stage is preparation where you prepare yourself to make a change and you start working on a plan with steps to identify what you're going to do differently. The fourth stage is action where you're going to actually implement the concrete behavioral changes. And the fifth stage is maintenance where you need to maintain all the progress that you've gotten to this point so that you can overcome obstacles.
